Vacumed - Procedure

Negative pressure for your patients Usually the patient takes off shoes and belt, but otherwise remains dressed. There is convenient access to the hypobaric chamber through an iris seal. By simply turning the iris, the chamber is tightly closed and secured, sealing up the waves of positive and negative pressure.

The treatment parameters for the intermittent negative pressure wave therapy are simple and straightforward.

Average treatment time for most indications is only 30 to 45 minutes. Setting the duration of the treatment session to the minute is easy with an electronic timer that switches the device off automatically at the preset time.

Simultaneously, an acoustic signal alerts the staff member in charge.

Apart from treatment duration, the intensity of the negative pressure can be continuously adjusted between -20 to -80 mbar to meet the requirements of the respective indication. The VACUMED(r) device achieves the preset pressure level independently, monitors and, if necessary, adjusts the actual pressure to the preset value automatically during the entire treatment session. In addition, the respective phases of negative and atmospheric pressure can be set to the second to stimulate arterial perfusion (longer negative pressure phases) or venous and lymphatic return (longer normal pressure phases) according to the respective indication.

Optimal settings for standard indications (PAOD, diabetic microangiopathy, secondary lymphatic oedema, varicose ulcer) are pre-programmed.
